As part of any instructor course, your students are required to demonstrate and teach a paddling skill or theory topic to the class and you are responsible to assess and provide feedback.
Pick a paddling stroke and a theory topic that would normally get assigned (eg. forward sweep or introduction to paddling clothing) and outline the process of how you would asses the student and what you would look for as part of a successful teaching demonstration.
The assignment should be around 2 pages long and include:
- A short outline of the main lesson points you will expect the student to cover.
- A list of benchmarks and instruction engagement methods for what might make it a successful teaching segment
- 5-6 likely mistakes the student could make with suggestions for positive feedback for further learning.
