Paddle Canada
President’s Report
May 2017

I would like to start off by thanking the outgoing director’s and welcoming our new directors to the Board of Directors for Paddle Canada. Lastly, I would like to offer my thanks to the PC Board of Directors for voting me in as President.

I would like to give special thanks to our Past President, Priscilla Haskin, who has served PC in a number of Board roles over the years. These include President, Treasurer and Regional Director for the province of Alberta. Priscilla has tirelessly given much of herself over the past number of years and has been integral in helping PC become the great organization it has become today. We are lucky as Priscilla will remain and integral part of PC in her current role as Chair of the Canoe PDC. I would also like to give thanks to Mike Gilbert, who most recently served in the role of President and Regional Director for the province of British Columbia. Mike has been always demonstrated professionalism in both roles and has supported PC through continual advocacy for recreational paddlers across the country. Mike will now take on the role of Past President. Thank you to both Priscilla and Mike for your commitment to see PC develop into the national organization it has become.

Next, I would like to take the opportunity to welcome our new Regional Directors, starting from the East to West. Welcome to Jarrod Gunn McQuillan who will be representing the province of Prince Edward Island. It has been a long time since PEI was represented on the Board of Directors, and we welcome Jarrod’s support and interest in helping Islanders share their voice on the national stage. Next I would like to welcome Jeremy Cline who will represent the province of New Brunswick as the Regional Director. And lastly, I would like to welcome Courtland Kerr who will be representing the province of British Columbia. Welcome!

Lastly, I am honoured to take on the role of President for Paddle Canada and will work with integrity, openness, and enthusiasm to guide PC in reaching its short and long term goals. I look forward to continuing to work with the Board and the staff of Paddle Canada over the next couple of years. In addition, I would also like to thank Brian Johnston, from Manitoba, for putting himself forward for the role of VP; Geoff Horn, from Saskatchewan, for taking on the ever important role of Treasurer; and to Lana Ohler-Madsen, from Alberta, who has offered to continue in her role Secretary.

Lastly, thank you to all the remaining Directors who continue to support PC and help guide the ship!

Regards,
Jeff Martin
