The University of Calgary Outdoor Centre is looking for instructors equipped to teach canoeing, river kayaking, rafting or stand-up paddleboarding for the 2023 season.
Programs include instructional lessons for youth and adults on various lakes and rivers in Calgary and surrounding area, as well as guided trips across Alberta and British Columbia.
Instructors can expect to have consistent part-time work from mid-April to mid-Oct. On-call positions are also available.

Required Education, Skills or Certification
Applicants should have knowledge, experience and certifications in their respective disciplines. A Paddling instructor certification (typically but not limited to Paddle Canada or Canoe Kayak Canada) is required for the level of water paddling on i.e. flatwater, class II moving water, etc. Standard first aid is also a requirement.
We will be running the following instructor courses next spring:
Waterfront Canoe Instructor
Late April or early May
2 day course
Moving Water Intro Canoe Tandem Instructor
4 day course
Paddling experience in respective disciplines. Teaching, working with youth, canoe guiding, trip leading and good communication skills are all assets.

Our goal is to make outdoor activities affordable and accessible by providing the skills and equipment needed, and by creating a friendly and safe learning environment. You don’t have to be a student. Our rentals, programs and trips are open to everyone on and off campus.
