Kayak Tour Guide

Job Summary

We require seasonal positions for two full time (week days) and two part time (weekends) guides to run kayak tours along the Kingston waterfront from mid-May (weather permitting) to end of September.

These guides will run both day and special night tours.  We use special clear bottom kayaks, the night tours being equipped with LED underwater lighting.  The guides will operate from a dedicated company van pulling an enclosed 16 foot cargo trailer that is equipped with racking for all the kayaks and equipment.  They will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation of the tours, in coordination with the company general manager.  They must determine the tour route (this may change from time to time to one of several pre-approved routes as this is a self-contained mobile tour operation); check weather and marine conditions; confirm tour location with general manager; check and maintain the kayaks and equipment and vehicles; transport the van and trailer to the site every day and night; check in guests and conduct safety orientation and outfitting of guests; run the tour; and return the vehicles and equipment to storage for the next day.

We have a strong emphasis on safety.  The tour groups will not exceed 12 persons total – the kayaks can carry one or two people.  Both guides accompany the group in kayak – front and back – to monitor the guests and render assistance.  All safety equipment and measures adhered to ensure the safety and comfort of the group.
