Job Summary
Yukan Canoe is seeking professional paddlesport instructors to teach paddling in the Yukon in 2023 and beyond.
Yukan Canoe offers a wide range of Paddlesport Instruction primarily Canoeing and Swift Water Rescue. We have recently invested in a fleet of sea kayaks and packrafts.
Our clients range from school groups, special interest groups, the general public, and custom groups such as Cadets, Junior Canadian Rangers, and Parks Canada
We can offer full-time work from May through the end of July with the real potential of work in August and September.
We are looking at expanding our offerings and including some guided adventures in the Yukon.

Required Education, Skills or Certification
Recognized Paddle Instruction Certifications – Moving Water Canoe, Sea Kayak and Swift Water Rescue. We recognize Paddle Canada, American Canoe Association, British Canoe Union, National Outdoor Leadership school, Recreational Canoe Association of BC, ORCKA and others.
Instructional and Coaching Skills
Wilderness First Aid (minimum 40 hr course, 80 hour course Ideal)
Swift Water Rescue
Class 4 or equivalent Drivers License
skills and experience with trailers
equipment repair and maintenance including canoes, kayaks, drysuits etc
Understanding of mechanics or willing to learn.
Problem solving skills
Independent and forward big picture thinking
Experience Required
Looking for instructors with a minimum of 3 seasons of experience
Looking for a key multi-disciplined instructor with 5+ years of experience in Outdoor Education is your career, ideally with some program management experience as I would like to grow Yukan Canoe and need some key people to help with this growth.
Also looking for people that are getting into the industry that have some Outdoor Education/Recreation training and want a mentorship relationship
MUST be a passionate paddler and identify as a paddler
