March Instructor Update

Here is a copy of the Instructor News section from the Feb/March 2011 Current Strokes Enewsletter

  • renew early for free gear,
  • advertise your courses,
  • waterfront instructor reduced fees,
  • comfort to control document for kayak instructor

1. Instructors, Renew Today

More than 200 instructor members have already renewed their memberships for the 2011 season. Everyone who renews membership by March 31 will be entered into an early bird draw for paddling gear.

 2. Advertise Courses

Put folks in your boats with the marketing exposure of the PC website. By selecting “Advertise this course on the Paddle Canada website,” your course will be listed in results when the general public searches the site. Paddlers are already calling the office looking for a course in their area, so get your courses listed early. (Courses can be registered only by current members.)

3. Waterfront Canoeing Instructor Reduced Membership Fee

Instructors holding only Waterfront Canoe Instructor certification will be pleased by the lowered annual membership rate of $20, plus tax. The Canoe PDC hopes that this lower fee will make this instructor level more financially accessible. A good proportion of Waterfront Instructors are youth camp staff. Read More

4. Comfort to Control – A River Kayaking Instructor Resource Document

The River Kayak PDC is pleased to announced the posting of a new instructor resource document entitled “Comfort to Control” – available for download in the members area of the website. This was written in 2006 by Jeff Johnson for The Madawaska Kanu Centre (MKC) Kayak Instruction Technical Resource Manual. Paddle Canada thanks the author, Jeff Johnson, and MKC for allowing us to share this with our kayak instructors.
