Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing Instructor

Discipline: Canoeing Program: Moving Water Stream: Instructor Development

The Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing Instructor award provides a national certification in the instruction and administration of the Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing certification.


Successful candidates receive the Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing Instructor certification.

The Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing Instructor is certified to:

  • conduct Advanced, Intermediate, Introduction to Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing skills courses and Basic Canoeing course
  • apprentice on an Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing Instructor course

Course Prerequisites
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Certification
    • Intermediate Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing Instructor
    • Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing
  • Experience
    • Experience beyond that of an Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing skill course.
  • Instructors can transfer their certification to solo instructor when the meet the following requirements
    • Advanced Tandem or Solo Moving Water Canoeing and,
    • an Instructor Trainer recommendation.

How to Register for an Instructor Course

  1. Contact the course director/organization and register with them first.
  2. Register yourself as an instructor candidate member with Paddle Canada by following these steps:
    • Are you existing Paddle Canada member or a past skill course student? Login to your account and follow the instructor candidate link there.
    • Are you brand new to Paddle Canada? Proceed to the Instructor Candidate membership form.
