Waterfront Instructor

Discipline: Canoeing Program: Lake Canoe Stream: Instructor Development

The Waterfront Instructor is an entry-level instructor program is designed for those individuals that would like to teach in a small designated area (80 x 100 metres) such as a pond or lake beachfront in calm waters.


This certification has expanded from camp counsellors to canoe club leaders, teachers and scout and guide leaders and others that want to teach through games in this safe and calm designated area.

A Waterfront Instructor is certified to conduct Paddle Canada Waterfront Program.

Course Prerequisites
  • 16 years of age.
  • Canoeing Basics or equivalent skills with permission of the course instructor.

How to Register for an Instructor Course

  1. Contact the course director/organization and register with them first.
  2. Register yourself as an instructor candidate member with Paddle Canada by following these steps:
    • Are you existing Paddle Canada member or a past skill course student? Login to your account and follow the instructor candidate link there.
    • Are you brand new to Paddle Canada? Proceed to the Instructor Candidate membership form.
