Course Description:

This five-day course is designed for individuals who are actively teaching others backcountry skills or providing recreation information to the public. Through classroom discussions, lectures, and a four-day canoe or backpacking trip, this course will incorporate the seven Leave No Trace principles with the tools and techniques for disseminating low-impact skills to other users of the backcountry.  The Frontcountry course provides participants with a comprehensive overview of Leave No Trace techniques through practical application specific to frontcountry settings including camps, nature centers, small parks and other day use recreation areas.  The frontcountry course will be based in ADK’s Wilderness Campground, requiring a minimal amount of hiking.  This course is ideal for federal agency partners, educators, outdoor retailers, youth group and outing club leaders, and other individuals actively teaching outdoor skills. Upon completion of the course, you will be qualified to teach Leave No Trace Trainer courses. The Leave No Trace Master Educator qualification is recognized and valued throughout the outdoor industry.
