AimTo provide a national certification in the instruction and administration of the Paddle Canada Level-2 Sea Kayaking Skills course.
The Level-2 instructor is certified to:
- Conduct Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking, Level-1 & 2 Skills courses and to certify paddlers at those levels.
- Assist a Level-3 Instructor on a Level-3 skills course.
- Assist a Level-1 Instructor Trainer on a Level-1 Instructor course.
Prerequisites
- At least 18 years of age.
- Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking Level-3 Skills certification.
- Significant paddle experience in a wide variety of conditions and locations.
- Current certification in Wilderness First Aid (16 hours) with CPR.
Course Length5 days minimum including one overnight.
Class ratio1 trainer: 4 participants with a minimum of two Instructor Trainers.
Staff must consist of a minimum of one Level-1 Instructor Trainer and one Level-2 Instructor Trainer.
LocationModerately exposed coastline with frequent easy landing opportunities.
ConditionsModerate winds (12-19 knots), combined sea state less than 1-metre with a moderate sea state.
Surf < 1 meter. Current < 3 knots.
