Paddle Canada is seeking a new chairperson to join and lead the Member Services Committee. The Member Services Committee works with the Executive Director to improve and streamline member services and benefits. Some recent accomplishments of the committee are:
- Regional Member Association (provincial paddling assoc.) conference call meeting and improving communication between RMA's and PC
- Automated emails to course participants confirming and thanking them for taking a course and soliciting any feedback.
- PC embroidered hats & T-shirts
- Annual membership drives - Early Bird Prizes from sponsors and outdoor industry partners
- Paddle Canada decals ordering and redesigns
- Creation of a paddling club membership category for $50 and tied into Waterwalker Film Festival
- Waiver forms available for download or purchase on card stock on website.
Description of the Chairperson's Role and Requirements: The Chairperson’s role is to manage the affairs of the Committee on an ongoing basis and report to the Executive (orally and in report form) on the activity of the Committee. As well. The chairperson is expected to keep in close and regular communication with members of his/her committee. Any policy changes with regards to that committee is subject to approval by the Board of Directors and in the case of a tie, the President has the deciding vote.
More specifically, the Chairperson’s role also includes:
- Keeping up to date minutes and proceedings of meetings
- Follow up on motion and completion of assigned tasks
- Close and regular communication with the Paddle Canada office & Board of Directors
- Organize committee to meet at least 4 times a year by conference call
Preferred Qualifications: · Involved with a provincial/territorial canoeing association or be familiar with the recreational paddling scene in Canada
· Have a skill level relevant to the work of the Task Force or Committee
· Have enough volunteer time to dedicate to the position
· Able to meet deadlines and be results oriented
· Have excellent oral and written communication skills
· Able to attend meetings and travel as required
· Committed to doing the best job possible given the constraints of volunteer organizations
· Be aware of current issues relating to their particular Task Force or committee
· Bilingualism would be considered a great asset
· Access to computer or email and/or skype account
CODE OF CONDUCTAny member of the Paddle Canada who violates any provisions of the By-laws or who engages in conduct which is contrary or detrimental to the objectives of the Paddle Canada may be expelled as member of the Paddle Canada by a vote of 2/3 majority of the Board of Directors.
